Birdsong

I awoke this morning to the beautiful melody of an unknown bird who was perched in the tree outside of my bedroom window. His lovely serenade was so loud it seemed as if he was in the room with me! As I laid in my bed and listened, I was gently reminded of a conversation that I had with a very special friend only yesterday. We were discussing relationships and how each of us has a different way of communicating. For instance, my way is verbal, my husband's is non-verbal. Just because his "birdsong" is different from mine doesn't mean it is wrong. It's just different. Just as the bird outside of my window was singing his heart out probably for his mate, my husband is "singing his heart out" for me; but he may be doing so quietly and
in his own way. Not wrong; just different. So the next time I am quick to judge someone for not communicating with me, I pray that I am reminded of that special birdsong I eavesdropped on this morning and that once again I be quiet and just.... listen.
